Here are some tips:

PIAZZA SAN MARCO
Tour of Piazza San Marco, the heart of Venice. If today the city has above all an historical, architectural and artistic interest, in the past it was the political, religious and economic centre of the Venetian Republic of Venice. You can see the Basilica with its splendid mosaics, the facades of the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the Bell Tower.

THE DOGE’S PALACE
Visit the inside of Palazzo Ducale and understand the power of Venice in the past. This building was the seat of Venetian administration over many centuries. Legislative, executive and judicial power was centralized here. You can admire the Hall of the Great Council, the Hall of the Council of Ten, the apartments of the Doge, the Scala dei Giganti.

VENICE AND ITS TYPICAL NEIGHBOURHOODS
Walk tour to discover the most “real” Venice and its typical districts, starting from the Rialto area with the fish market; Cannaregio with the house of Marco Polo and the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli; Castello, with the Basilica of Saints John and Paul, the church of San Zaccaria and more.

VENICE AND ITS “CRAFTS”
Walk to discover the Venice of the Venetians, through the typical Rialto district, with the famous bridge and the colourful and lively fruit and fish market. In the San Polo district, you can see a workshop for the production of papier-mâché carnival masks, with a demonstration. Eventually, visit a “squero”, the construction site where the gondolas are built with the comments of a master carpenter.

THE ISLANDS OF THE VENICE LAGOON
A day can be dedicated to the excursion by private boat for a mini-cruise through the Venetian lagoon: first stop in Murano for a visit to a glass factory to attend a demonstration of a master glassmaker; then stop in the island of Burano, famous for its lace and the typical fishermen’s coloured houses; eventually we arrive at Torcello, with the Byzantine basilica of the 7th century. Lunch can be taken in a typical restaurant on one of the islands with an excellent fish menu.
